09:00 pm - From Manure, Flowers Shall Be Fertilized
Sometimes life just up and hands you FAIL, more FAIL than you know what to do with. Like any good little scout, you should be prepared. With icons*.

{ comment, credit, enjoy, &c. }

These are a quartet of cherrypicked quotes on the nature of FAIL from the comments on spiralsheep's recent efforts at anti-racism dialogue. Attributed l to r: abydosangel, jonquil (added to by me), shaggydogstail (modified by me), spiralsheep.

If you've know of any more that desperately and burningly need to be icons, please leave a comment. It may take me a bit though, because I've typed FAIL so many times in the last twenty-four hours, it looks more and more like FLAIL.

01:59 pm - Let Us Not Beleaguer The Fact That You Have No Sense Of Timing.
Let us pretend that I intentionally worked on a set of Potterverse icons, and not that my timing is horribly off for the theatrical release of Goblet of Fire. Yes, let's. It's so much less embarassing.

What do you mean, "Cedric dies"?Collapse )

02:45 pm - The Return of The Stout & Lufty Men
Having checked out Errol Flynn's Robin Hood from the library this week, I am nearly convinced that it is just about the campest thing I have ever laid my eyes on, short of Howard Pyle's right excellent version of Robin Hood. Thus, four more innocent and unassuming woodcuts have been bastardized for your icon pleasure. Feel free to blame it on those green tights, now in gloriously restored technicolor.

12:28 am - Icon Round Up, Part I
Oh this old thing! It's one of those out-of-sight-out-of-mind scenarios, you know? But now that it's a new year, I suppose it would behoove me to post a round up of the stray icons I made last year.

Originally made during naarmamo, I present to you twelve icons of Yelena Yemchuk's video for Zero by the Smashing Pumpkins. Nothing says a fresh start to the new year like angsty baroque imagery, don't you think?

I"m your lover. I"m your zero.Collapse )

A bevy of icons from Howard Pyle's excellently done The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood. Because you can't have sci fi all the time.

11:44 pm - We are the goon squad and we're coming to town.
Fashionista icons, with photography by endsend. Photolicious, every last one. I don't just say that because he's my friend or because I designed his site. I say it because his photography is superfantastik. (Lyrics, of course, by the inimitable David Bowie.)

FASHION! Turn to the left.Collapse )

Now back to the constant struggle between paid photoshop work and frivolous photoshop work. In a perfect world there would be no struggle, as the two would be one and the same. Alas.

06:34 pm - Polyhedra
Before twelve-sided die and Dungeons & Dragons, polyhedra were things of shining beauty (they were!), drawn with the utmost care and precision by brilliant minds like da Vinci and Kepler. Now, of course, we have computers to do that. And icons - 42 in all.

It"s a matter of perspective, really.Collapse )

So I've mentioned that I heart low budget 1970s British science fiction before, right?
(Heavens help us if I ever get ahold of The Tomorrow People screen caps . . .)
